Work Integrated Learning

Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is broadly defined as any learning activity or program that provides students with industry experience.

We work hard to foster close industry connections and collaborations with industry partners who can provide you with work placement positions and training opportunities.

As an information technology student, you will be given the opportunity to complete a real-world industry capstone project in teams, producing and implementing an IT system for a local business, government or community organisation.

In addition, students can undertake internships at a range of companies, such as Dialog Information Technology, Pursuit Technology, CycleLifeHQ, Birdsnest, Australian Sports Commission, Agsafe, Kiah Consulting, ALLBIDS, ThoughtPatterns Consulting, ESKAPEE, Carers ACT, the Department of Defence’s Chief Information Officer Group, Emanate Technology, Getaboutable.com and Clearz Defence.

As a business informatics student, you will regularly connect with the world of professional practice via guest lecturers, expert industry-based tutors and a focus on practical scenarios and case studies in your coursework.

You’ll undertake group project work developing real-world IT strategies for real clients and you’ll participate in a final year work placement.

Previous Business Informatics students have undertaken internships and cadetships with organisations such as PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Fujitsu Australia, Birdsnest, the P站视频, and more.

As a software engineering student you will be given the opportunity to complete a real-world industry capstone project in teams, producing and implementing an engineering solution for a local business, government or community organisation.

In addition, students can undertake internships at a range of companies, such as Intelledox, Omni Executive, Pursuit Technology, Qirx, Fujitsu Australia, Birdsnest, Agsafe, ThoughtPatterns Consulting, ESKAPEE, HydroAlgorithmics, ALLBIDS, VerveEd.com, Emanate Technology, Xero Australia and the Australian Taxation Office.

As a network and software engineering student you will undertake a minimum of 12 weeks of professional work placement as part of the faculty’s commitment to Work Integrated Learning (WIL), which will enhance your employability and ensure you are armed with the right mix of skills and knowledge to take a confident leap into your future career.

As a science student you will undertake a range of practical activities designed to prepare you for a sustainable career in science, such as exposure to entrepreneurship in science and pitching ideas for funding and patenting, guest lectures by esteemed industry professionals and work placements in an area of science of particular interest to you.

You’ll also have the opportunity to take part in collaborative work where you’ll team up with research-active academics to develop a research project and report on its outcomes at either P站视频’s Centre for Research in Therapeutic Solutions, Institute of Applied Ecology, National Centre for Forensic Studies, or another approved professional institution.

Previous students have undertaken internships with ACT Health, ACT Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development, Australian Sports Anti-doping Authority, CSIRO, Department of Agriculture, Icon Water, Office of the Gene Technology Regulator, Questacon, Therapeutic Goods Administration, as well as pathology laboratories, federal and ACT government regulatory departments and laboratories, biotech start-ups, and companies within the university sector.
